First Annual IMPOA Calendar Photo Contest

Objectives
The IMPOA Community Calendar has 2 main goals:
  1. Show the beauty of our Indian Mountain landscape and surrounding area through photographs taken by members of the community.
  2. Create a Calendar with seasonally/ monthly relevant photographs for purchase, in time for the beginning of the new year.
Promotion and Communication
Events from this contest may be announced and promoted on the IMPOA website.  All contest entries and administration will take place through email. Contest winners may also be announced on Next Door as well as the IMPOA Facebook page.

Categories
Our intent is to represent all four seasons on the calendar, with three sub-themes for each season:

-       Wildlife
-       Landscape
-       The Indian Mountain Experience (get creative!)

In addition, there will be one selection chosen as the Grand Prize, which will be our cover photo for the calendar.

Photographs should not contain individuals, and instead should focus on the community landscape, nature and wildlife. Unfortunately, submissions containing individuals whose image or likeness appears will not be considered for the calendar.

Minimum Requirements
Participation in this contest is deemed as acceptance of these Official Contest Rules.

A submission must be an original digital photograph taken by a resident or immediate family member. The final calendar will be laid out in a ‘landscape’ orientation, and therefore photos must be a minimum resolution of 1600 pixels high x2000 pixels wide (Landscape orientation preferred, otherwise your picture may not fill the entire page).  Smaller resolution photos will not be accepted.

Photo Submissions
Photos taken within the Indian Mountain subdivision and the immediately surrounding area must be submitted in an attachment to this email address: IMPOA_Contest@gmail.com. Please title the email “IMPOA Calendar Submission [season]”. Submitted photographs must be in jpg format, and should not have any visible watermarks, signatures, or personally identifiable information.

Please also submit a Photo Release Form together with your photo. We will NOT consider photos submitted without this Form. Once a photograph is submitted, it is considered a final submission and may not be modified, edited, or replaced.

Individual contestants may submit no more than five photos. However, maximum two photos of an individual contestant may be included in the calendar.

Entries may be submitted before October 15th, 2022.  Once the final photographs are chosen, the winners will be announced.

Technical Format Requirements
The final calendar will be produced as a standard wall calendar – using 8.5” x 11” paper, where at least one photograph will be chosen for each month.
Copies of the calendar for purchase will be available at the community office when they are announced as being printed and delivered.

Selection of Winners

Judges
The contest judges will be a minimum of 3 but not more than 5 Community members.

Judges will select contest winners from among all eligible entries based on the following criteria: technical excellence, artistic merit, originality, composition, and ability to showcase the unique experience of the Indian Mountain community.

Winners
Each winner and/or finalist will be asked to provide a brief statement about the submission – when and where it was taken, etc.   This is not mandatory.

Winners and finalists may choose to use an alias instead of their real name and may request other identifying information be kept private. e. Winner(s) will be contacted via e-mail at the e-mail address they provided for registration. The inability of Contest Sponsors to contact a potential winner may result in disqualification and/or selection of an alternate winner from among all remaining eligible submissions.

Prizes
IMPOA will create a 2023 calendar with the winning photos (12 months – January-December 2023 and a cover photo) to be sold to interested parties.  Each winner will get one free copy of this calendar. In addition, the grand prize winner will receive a $50 gift card.

Winners must confirm the acceptance of the prize in an email reply within three calendar days. If the acceptance is not confirmed by the required date, the Judges reserve the right to select an alternate winner.

If the winner is unable to pick up their prize in person, please provide a valid physical mailing address where a prize, if any, is to be shipped.

Final Words
This annual calendar is coordinated by volunteers from the community. We hope the success of this calendar will result in an ongoing annual repeat of the event and look forward to making any adjustments to the process in the future. We hope that the contest is embraced and enjoyed by all participants.
