The burn pit is managed by the Indian Mountain Recreation And Park District for property owners to use for safe disposal of FOREST SLASH. The accumulation is periodically burned in a controlled environment.

 

Property Owners must complete an application to use the Burn Pit. Please see the IMRPD web site for further details.

 


Guidelines for permitted materials at the Burn Pit

This disposal site is for property owners.  The only acceptable materials to be left at this site are forest waste (slash), or other wood products. Other materials may create a hazard or liability when burned.

 

ITEMS NOT TO BE LEFT AT SITE:
TREATED LUMBER-normally pale green in color, when burned this releases a toxic gas.
CONSTRUCTION TRASH
FURNITURE
APPLIANCES

OIL, LIQUIDS, PROPANE TANKS, etc.

 

This site is not a DUMP.  If the site is abused we will have little choice but to shut it down.  

Location:  Just off of County Road 32 (Albino Road) about 3/4 mile East of Station 5 (located on Elk Horn Road).  This is near the RV storage area and about 300 yards east of the Rec Hall in an old dried up pond.
